Flow Measurement
NLI’s partner Krohne is a world leader and innovator in flow measurement. Krohne manufactures a variety of different flow measurement devices using any of several flow measurement techniques.
Years ago, nearly all flow measurement was done by measuring the differential pressure across a flow restriction, such as an orifice or venturi. Not only were there limitations on accuracy with this very old technology, but there is a loss of efficiency due to the flow restriction. Krohne’s ultramodern flow measurement instruments offer increased accuracy and little or no restriction on flow depending on the model.
Krohne’s flagship line of flow measurement instruments is the Altosonic. The Altosonic line uses ultrasonic sound waves to measure flow. Sound waves are directed across the flow path at angles both with and against the normal flow path. The operating principal is that the sound waves heading in the direction of flow will reach the sensor faster than the sound waves heading against the flow. The Altosonic units are extremely accurate, require virtually no maintenance, and do not restrict flow.
