Inverters

DC power plays an extremely important role in the safe and reliable production of power within the nuclear power industry.  A key component within the DC - AC power scheme at a nuclear power plant is the inverter.  There are many sizes and types of inverters used within a nuclear power plant.

NLI designs, fabricates, tests and supplies inverters of all sizes and types.  Typical designs range from 125VA to 15kVA inverters custom fabricated to meet our clients’ unique requirements.

NLI has the capability to supply analog or digital designs to meet our clients’ requirements. Typical custom designs include seismically enforced enclosures, transformer windings for unique voltage ranges, high temperature/flame retardant wire, special footprint dimensions, unique static switch designs, and custom transfer schemes.

The inverters are then qualified, as applicable, in accordance with IEEE Standards 323, 344, 384 and 650 at a minimum.  Digital designs are also qualified in accordance with IEEE Std. 7-4.3.2 and EPRI TR-102323.
